Our aim at RRWS is to produce quality warmblood/thoroughbred cross performance horses which are tall and elegant but at the same time compact through the back. Our young stock have gained a reputation for being extremely trainable, with a real desire to please their rider. River Range horses are very correct in their conformation and have shown a real apptitude for the higher level collected work.

The broodmare band at RRWS was begun with the purchase of several high quality thoroughbred mares. We were lucky enough to purchase several mares in foal to excellent thoroughbred stallions and from this were able to increase the brood mare band with a couple of high quality fillies which were retained for breeding.

Rare CoralTwo of our original mares were Rare Coral and Hannah Honey. Rare Coral produced two lovely foals to Northern Classic. The first is Liaison, who is currently owned by Queensland dressage rider Claire Wallace, and competing very successfully at FEI level. The second foal was Coralanne, a full sister to Liaison and she has being retained as a breeding mare. Unfortunately Rare Coral was lost to foaling complications following the birth of Coralanne.

Hannah Honey's first foal for RRWS was Copenhagen who was trained and competed to Grand Prix by Linda and sold to Japanese interest in 2005. Hannah went on to produce 3 more foals to Northern Classic for RRWS, one colt, True North, and two fillies, Coquette and Capilana. True North was successfully completed in Young Dressage Horse classes in Queensland and was taken to Germany with his owner to train in Germany and in 2009 was sold to USA. Coquette was sold to a dressage rider in Adelaide and has begun her career under saddle. Hannah's final foal for RRWS was Cappilana (Honey) who has been retained as a future breeding prospect and is currently being ridden and campaigned by a student of Linda's. Hannah Honey was passed on to Claire Wallace of Lexington Farm in Rockhampton as it was felt that moving her to Toowoomba in 2002 would not have been in the mare's best interest and in January 2003 produced yet another beautiful filly to Northern Classic for Claire, Lexington Corvette.

One of the most impressive thoroughbred mares purchased by the stud was Carasole. She was a 17hh thoroughbred mare by the Irish stallion Fayyad. Carasole was purchased in foal to the thoroughbred stallion Defecting Dancer and from this produced the mare Katherine who was retained by the stud for breeding and went on to be one of the studs most prolific producers for the stud. Carasole went on to produce 3 super fillies by Northern Classic, all matured into tall elegant mares with movement to spare. One was sold to Malaysia, Alexandra, for dressage and the second, Carabella, is in Western Australia producing excellent results in dressage for her owner there. The last of these fillies, Caramia, was been retained by the stud as a competition and breeding prospect and in 2005 produced a lovely colt to Leadburn Rotstein, Rivers Two Up, in 2006 Caramia was bred to the young stallion IHB Rio de Janero but unfortunately she was lost to colic complications in 2007 before she was able to foal.

2003 saw RRWS put 2 of our Northern Classic mares to outside stallions. M'Lady, a mare by Northern Classic x Memsahib, produce a filly foal to the pure bred Arabian stallion Talik Farad, Rivers Fanomenon, and Holliander, full sister to M'Lady, produce a filly foal to the young warmblood stallion, Cherenton Whitesox, Rivers Wisconsin who has been retained as a brood mare.

2004 saw the purchase of IHB Rio de Janero. A Holsteiner colt by Kendalee River Disc (Riverman USA) out of Kendalee Dawn (Barabadeen Talent). Rio has been purchased with the assistance of several long time clients of River Range who have invested in a Syndicate to own shares in Rio. Rio was bred to the syndicate mares in the 2005 breeding season and has been available to public stud from 2007. In his first two seasons at stud, Rio has produced a number of outstanding foals. consistently stamping his young stock with his strong features with all foals be well conformed, very quiet and all bay in colour with a touch of white.

2005 saw the stud purchase a wonderful old thoroughbred mare from Lyndhurst stud. This mare, Serestrina, is by In the Purple, the same sire line as our original mare Rare Coral. Sestrina came with a beautiful thoroughbred filly at foot by the thoroughbred stallion Irish Royal and this filly, Serina, has been retained as a breeding mare. Serestrina was successfully put in foal to Northern Classic and produced a superb colt foal, River Range Cavalier. Unfortunately Serestrina was lost due to deteriorating health in 2007. Her filly Rivers Serina has produced a brown filly foal to River Range Calutta in November 2008, River Range Caledonia and in 2009 will be bred to IHB Rio de Janero.

In 2005 the stud was fortunate to be given the use of a Ludendorf mare who is a proven produced of outstanding young horses. The mare, Eastglen Luft (aka Viv), has produced a superb colt by River Range Calcutta in 2006, River Range Calgary.

Many of our current broodmares are decendents of our original stallion Northern Classic and our original thoroughbred mares.
